In just a few years, DC Construction has grown into one of the premier contractors for government, utility, and private construction projects in Central California. Some of our more notable projects–and the results we’ve delivered–are outlined below.





Atwater Substation
115kv Bus Conversion Reliability Project

Scope: New substation yard extension–2.3 acres. Includes grubbing, grade cut and fill, export and import of fill dirt, compaction test and certified grade. Installed 258 new concrete foundations, one new MPAC building foundation, and one new battery building foundation. Excavated and installed eight new concrete pull boxes and installed 1400 feet of seven-foot chain link fence plus gates.

Budget: $833,167.84. 70 percent completed under budget. Projected savings of 20 percent at project completion.




Borden Substation
Oil retention SPCC basins (shotcrete)

Scope: Installed SPCC basins for oil retention. Excavated and exported dirt, imported base rock for compaction. Basin constructed out of 6” shotcrete.

Budget: $202,000. Total dollars spent to date: $145,036.60–28 percent under budget.




Helm Hydro Cast-in-Place Concrete Project
Handicap access docks

Scope: Constructed concrete walkways, handicap-parking areas, excavated and poured concrete foundation supports for fishing platforms, installed five pressure-treated wooden fishing platforms with safety railing and informational sign.



Herndon Substation
Storage foundation for transformers, shotcrete for SPCC basins and asphalt roads.

Scope: Installed one 40’ x 200’ x 15” and one 30’ x 65’ x 6” concrete transformer storage foundation. Excavated to design grade for roads and concrete storage slabs, exported dirt and imported base rock for compaction. Installed 70,945 square feet of asphalt at roads. Installed 200’ x 10’ x 4” of shotcrete for drainage swale. Demoed and off-hauled concrete foundations.

Budget: $1,400,000. Total dollars spent to date: $1,095,000–22 percent under budget.



Los Banos Substation
EPC Project for GE
Remove & replace transformer foundations and install firewalls.

Scope: Installed four transformer foundations and 19 structure foundations. Demoed 17 structure foundations and installed three firewalls between transformers. Excavated to design grade, exported dirt from site and imported base rock for compaction. Developed 100’ x 100’ x 3” of aggregate base for lay-down area.

Budget: $700,000. Total dollars spent to date: $455,000–65 percent completed under budget. Projected savings of 20 percent at project completion.
